Burak Antika
Burak Antika is a criminal defence lawyer in Istanbul, admitted to the Istanbul Bar in 2017 and registered with the Union of Turkish Bar Associations. He founded Antika Hukuk in 2019. The work has since settled around matters where Turkish criminal procedure meets an authority, a proceeding or an asset outside Türkiye, and where the two sides of that problem have to be handled together rather than one after the other.
The practice is confined to criminal matters, with a concentration on extradition and INTERPOL notices, money-laundering allegations and MASAK measures, multi-defendant proceedings, digital evidence, and international judicial cooperation involving Türkiye. These areas overlap more often than they separate. A restraint on an account and a request for evidence from abroad frequently belong to the same investigation; a surrender request frequently travels with a notice that has to be answered on its own terms and on its own timetable. Work is therefore organised around whichever period is already running, rather than around the heading a matter would be filed under.
Instructions are handled in Turkish and English, including submissions prepared and filed in English before the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files. Where a client or an instructing firm is outside Türkiye, correspondence, the reading of the Turkish file and the explanation of what it contains are carried out in English. The underlying documents remain in Turkish and the Turkish text governs; where a translation is relied on, it is identified as such.
